You walk past the mantel on a dark December evening and wonder how many days are left.

Paper calendars with little doors are easy to lose track of once the room fills up with other decorations. Here the count is printed in big red numbers on blocks, so you can read it from across the room. A tiny snow-dusted tree with red berries stands at one end of the sleigh, which gives the shelf a bit of Christmas colour. The blocks lift out of the tray, so you can swap them to change the number.
